Residents encouraged to view proposed districts webpage

Page Features Interactive District Map, Open House Dates and Question Form

The City of Naperville encourages all residents and interested parties to view the proposed districts webpage now available on the city's website at www.naperville.il.us/districts.aspx.

In the November 2012 election, voters approved a referendum requiring that the city divide into districts beginning with the 2015 municipal election.

The webpage provides a comprehensive overview of the five proposed districts and an interactive map that will allow residents to type in their address and view the proposed district in which they would reside.

In addition, the site lists dates and times of six open houses to explain the proposed districts and answer questions from residents as well as a list of frequently asked questions about the districting process.

Residents can also submit a question and/or comment about the proposed districts via this webpage.

At the Aug. 16, 2011 city council meeting, the city council directed a team of interdepartmental city staff to develop a map showing the proposed districts.

To determine appropriate boundaries, the team utilized census population data as well as the city's subdivision map and county precinct boundaries. The proposed districts are close to equal population, maintain the integrity of subdivisions and respect geographic boundaries such as major arterial roads.
