Mental health group offers guardianship presentation in Barrington

National Alliance on Mental Illness Barrington Area will host a presentation by Bob Wohlgemuth from Guardianship Services Associates, 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, Barrington village hall, 200 S. Hough Street, Barrington.

Wohlgemuth will address the topic of guardianship as it relates to individuals with significant brain disorders. He will share his knowledge on this important topic, gathered through 30 years of working in this area.

Wohlgemuth, founder and director of Guardianship Services Associates, has provided assistance in over 10,000 guardianship cases at greatly reduced costs to consumers. His agency has also provided information, counseling and referral to thousands more at no charge. At the time of the agency’s creation, it was one of only six such services in the United States.

During his talk, Bob will discuss what guardianship is and what it isn’t, under what circumstances it should be sought and when it is questionable to do so. He will also share some alternatives to guardianship as well as the options available to obtain guardianship and the cost. Time will also be available for questions. The presentation will be free, and light refreshments will be served. No reservation necessary. All are welcome.
