Kiwanis give grant for Fox Valley arts scholarships

Just in time for the winter class session at the Fox Valley Repertory Performing Arts Academy, Kiwanis of St. Charles has awarded the academy a grant in the amount of $750 for need-based scholarships to St. Charles students.

Kiwanis recognizes the need for scholarships to area students and Fox Valley Rep’s commitment to making its programs accessible to area students.

The winter class session begins in February and scholarships are available. Students must demonstrate financial need and show proof of residency in St. Charles.

Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, need basis and will be awarded at no more than half the program fee.

Kids, age 6-11, are invited to audition for the Kids Mainstage Musical performance class of “Seussical the Musical.” Open auditions will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, or 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St. in St. Charles. No appointment is necessary.

Interested youth should prepare and memorize a one-minute or less monologue and 16 bars of a song that best displays their talent. Bring a CD with backing tracks only — no vocals. Do not bring sheet music or sing a song from the show. Singing a cappella is not recommended. Be prepared to dance with proper shoes and clothing. Bring a headshot and a resume to the audition.

Ÿ Youth On-Camera “Victorious” and “Good Luck Charlie” for ages 8 to 12 Feb. 7-March 20.

Ÿ Tots Musical Theatre “Sleeping Beauty” for Class A, ages 3 to 4, and Class B, ages 5 to 6, Feb. 12-March 18.

Ÿ Teen Acting and Audition Class for ages 13 to 18 Feb. 12 -March 18.

Ÿ Tweens Musical Theatre “Little Shop of Horrors” for ages 9 to 12 Feb. 15-March 21.

Ÿ Kids Musical Theatre Class “Mary Poppins” for ages 6 to 8 Feb. 16-March 22

Ÿ Youth “Glee” Show Choir-Contemporary Songs for ages 8 to 12 Feb. 18-March 24

Ÿ Kids Musical Theatre “Wicked” for ages 6 to 8 Feb. 18-March 24

Ÿ Tweens Musical Theatre “Footloose” for ages 9 to 12 Feb. 18-March 24

Kiwanis of St. Charles is a local club of the greater Kiwanis International which is an organization of service and community-minded individuals who support children and young adults around the world.
