For investors who like to do a little bit more research, Morningstar has released an mobile devices application that features its research and analysis in a pocket-size package. Users will have to sign up for a free account with the research firm for some information -- and pay for truly in-depth coverage -- but the app will still give basic market information and news without an account. Morningstar will also let you research Canadian securities, set portfolio watch lists and offer some investing suggestions. Free, for iPhone or Android and BlackBerry devices.
Currency
Make your smartphone work even harder for you by installing this free app to keep track of currency conversion rates from just about anywhere. The app keeps it simple: You pick the base currency you’re looking convert, type the amount into your phone and it will display that amount in one of several currencies. You can add up to seven currencies to the main display screen of your app to see at a glance how much your trade would be in several markets.

Book of Jargon: European Capital Markets and Bank Finance
If you’re new to European investing or just need to brush up on your acronyms, check out the Book of Jargon’s glossary and dictionary of terms. It’s not the most glamorous app, but it provides snippets that can come in handy when you’re doing business overseas. Users can search for terms directly or browse through the app. It links other definitions mentioned in a given entry, too, so you’ll be speaking the language of European trade before you know it.
