Des Plaines woman dies after shoveling snow
A 77-year-old Des Plaines woman who collapsed while shoveling snow Thursday died Friday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
After an autopsy, the death of Florence Erickson of the 1900 block of Pine Street was attributed to a stroke, heart disease caused by high blood pressure and exposure to the cold, a spokeswoman for the medical examiner’s office said Saturday.
She died Friday morning at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, according to the Medical Examiner’s office.
The Des Plaines Fire Department responded to a call at the address at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
