Mundelein group seeks nominees for diversity award
The Mundelein human relations commission is accepting nominations for its 2012 Diversity Award.
The award will recognize and celebrate efforts to promote cultural awareness through programs and other means. The nomination process will close Jan. 15.
Mayor Kenneth H. Kessler and the village board will present the award to an outstanding individual or organization that meets the award criteria.
The nominee must create or be part of a program that recognizes diversity, demonstrates peaceful problem solving, promotes social or cultural understanding, or builds cross-cultural relations.
Nominees must live or work in Mundelein or attend school in Mundelein. They should demonstrate leadership or serve as a role model.
Nomination forms are available at the village’s official website, mundelein.org, or by calling the human relations commission staff liaison at (847) 949-3252.
The human relations commission is a subcommittee of the village board, and its members are appointed by the mayor. The group aims to ensure all residents are afforded the opportunity for mutual respect, cooperation and understanding, and to acknowledge the value of diversity within the community.
