Northgate to battle ash borer
The Northgate Civic Association will discuss options for dealing with the Emerald Ash Borer at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18 at Riley School, 1209 East Burr Oak Drive. “Nearly two thirds of our trees are ashes,” NCA President Laurie Taylor wrote in a news release. “If we do nothing, we will lose all of them. Northgate will be less beautiful, hotter on summer afternoons, and will face other neighborhood, environmental and economic issues.” Northgate, in the north part of the village, has about 700 homes and more than 400 parkway trees. The meeting is open to the public.
