New art building under construction at SIUE
EDWARDSVILLE — A new art and design building is going up on the Southern Illinois University campus in Edwardsville.
The Telegraph in Alton reports that the $14.3 million project includes constructing a new building and renovating the existing facility. The new, 29,000-square-foot building will house studios for painting, drawing, history, education and therapy. There also will be two classrooms, a large gallery and office space.
The existing building will house ceramics, glass, sculpture, metals, printing, textiles, photography and graphics.
Construction on the new building should be finished in the fall. Renovations in the existing building should be done by fall of next year.
