Nip and a pint dinner

If you're a lover of beer or favor a nip of whiskey, you'll want to check out Glenview House's “Nip, Pint and a Bite Dinner.” Chef Grant Slauterbeck creates a four-course dinner that includes Coca-Cola fried Amish chicken wings, roulade of poached sturgeon, pan-spiced and seared venison loin and Snickers pie. Accompanying drinks include selections from distillers and breweries such as Makers 46, Templeton Rye, New Holland Brewery and Louis Glunz Beers. The cost is $60 (inclusive). Reservations recommended as seating is limited.

6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the Glenview House, 1843 Glenview Road, Glenview. (847) 724-0692 or theglenviewhouse.com.

Trimmed-down soups

Whole Foods Market celebrates National Soup Month with four principles in mind: whole foods, nutrient dense, plant-strong and healthy fats. Those ideas play out in several healthy soup options: chicken and brown rice, smoky split pea soup, tomato bulgur soup, creamy curried cauliflower and yellow split pea and sweet potato.

Whole Foods Market has locations throughout the suburbs and city. See wholefoodsmarket.com.

Prasino St. Charles closes temporarily

Prasino's St. Charles location, 51 S. First St., closed earlier this month and will be back in the spring with the same owners and a new name and expanded drink concept. Locations in LaGrange and Wicker Park remain open. The restaurant is known for its from-scratch breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks crafted from locally grown ingredients.
