Taylor YMCA expands its family offerings

Taylor YMCA family memberships will include new activities and opportunities for kids, age 7-12 (Kids Club) and 13 and older (Club Y) in its renovated Prime Time Center.
“We’re expanding our offerings to include new opportunities for older children to have safe, fun place to hang out,” said Rick Reigner, president and CEO of Prairie Valley Family YMCA. Reigner also serves as the executive director of Taylor Family YMCA, 30 N. McLean Blvd., Elgin.
Among the additions to the Prime Time Center are new wide screen TVs and a couple X-Box Kinect consoles/games for Kids Club and Club Y members to enjoy. Other activities include Wii, movies, games, and computers with free Wi-Fi. Vending machines with drinks and snacks are available as well.
“Of course, we also have a lounge area for socializing plus dedicated space where kids can do their homework,” Reigner said.
Kids Club will be open Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 5 to 7 p.m. Club Y will be available for teens from 7 to 9 p.m. on the same days. Participation in the new programs is free with a family membership to the Taylor Family YMCA ($68/month). Students may also make use of the new programs by applying for a Youth Membership ($32/month). Currently, the Taylor Family YMCA is offering a $0 joining fee promotion. This promotion applies to all Y memberships initiated through the end of February.
“We’re really excited about what these new programs will mean for area young people, especially those from nearby schools. We’re looking forward to providing them — and their families — with whole new options in after-school and early evening activities.”
