Steven Curtis Chapman coming to North Central College

Steven Curtis Chapman is bringing his “Songs and Stories” tour to North Central College in Naperville.

The performance, featuring special guests Andrew Peterson and Josh Wilson, is at 7 p.m. Feb. 9 in Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave.

Tickets are $45, $35 and $25; call (800) 965-9324 or visit itickets.com. For an additional $25, patrons also may purchase a pass to “Sound Check & Stories,” a preshow event at 5 p.m. the day of the performance.

Chapman is hailed as one of today’s most creative and dynamic contemporary singers and songwriters. During his 25-year career, he has won five Grammy Awards and a record-breaking 56 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards. He’s earned a total of 16 Grammy nominations, and multiple gold and platinum albums.

After the tragic death of his 5-year-old daughter in 2008, Chapman learned a lot about time and its ability to heal, restore and shift perspective. For the veteran singer/songwriter, these past few years allowed him to view the world through a different lens, leading to new songs and a fresh look at some that have been longtime companions.

On his 17th album “re:creation,” Chapman debuts six new songs, including the hit single “Do Everything,” and breathes new life into some of his most memorable and popular songs with re-imagined approaches and all-new recordings.

The chance to continue recording and connecting with the people who have embraced his music over the years is something that Chapman cherishes.

“My relationship with the audience has been so much more than just a musical relationship,” he said. “I feel like they’ve been on the journey with me from the very beginning.”
