Elgin Choral Union to hold auditions

The Elgin Choral Union will hold auditions for general volunteer membership for the remainder of the 2011-12 season, as well as for paid professional section leaders for the 2012-13 season.
The auditions are scheduled between 4 and 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10 in Room 164M at Elgin Community College Performing Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive in Elgin. All voices (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) are invited to audition.
Currently performing in Elgin Community College’s Blizzard Theatre, the chorus has distinguished itself by its ambitious programming, critically acclaimed performances of master choral works, and commissioning several world premieres. All regular rehearsals are 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays.
Additional rehearsals are required near concert dates and will be scheduled as needed.
All singers age 18 and older are welcome who qualify by audition. It is important that you visit the website, www.elginchoralunion.org, and review complete details regarding this audition including the position description, qualifications, and audition procedure before requesting an audition.
Compensation for the section leader’s 2012-13 season, spanning approximately eight months, beginning in late August and ending in mid-May, is $50 per rehearsal, $70 per concert for an estimated $2,000 for a complete season.
