Kane County is ready for change
Kane County voters are faced with a golden opportunity in the 2012 elections. We have an opportunity to start with a clean slate.
Gone will be Karen McConnaughay, the architect of our own Kane County Tammany Hall, and her willing lieutenant Cathy Hurlbut. Depending on how you look at it, they’re off to greener pastures or, better yet, higher paying gigs at taxpayer expense.
This being the fact, let’s seize this opportunity for more fiscally and morally responsible county government.
In the Republican primary Sen. Chris Lauzen is facing off against Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns for county board chairman. Lauzen’s 20-year career in the Illinois senate shows a strong, fiscally conservative voting record — exactly what Kane County needs. I know I’m not at all happy with my property taxes from the current regime.
Burns. on the other hand, has just hired on Illinois GOP chairman Pat Brady as his campaign manager.
I ask you what’s wrong with this picture? Pat Brady is the man who almost single-handedly destroyed the Republican Party in Illinois. Do we really want that kind of repeat performance from Pat Brady in Kane County politics?
I also learned recently that any vacant county board district will be filled by appointment from the board chairman. I sure don’t want the co-chairmanship of Burns and Brady selecting my representatives. The only reasonable solution is to vote for Chris Lauzen for Kane County Board Chairman in March.
