Three charged after Elmhurst pawnshop burglary

Three people were arrested while fleeing the scene of a pawnshop burglary in Elmhurst Friday night, according to police.

Elmhurst police officers spotted the three “suspicious subjects” running from a strip mall at North York Street and Crestview Avenue before they fled in a vehicle, according to authorities.

Shortly after they fled, a burglar alarm sounded at Mr. Pawn Shop, 591 N. York Road, and officers tried to stop the vehicle, police said.

The female driver of the vehicle refused to stop and the suspects later fled from their vehicle, according to police.

The driver, Angelique J. Perry, 19, of Maywood, was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding and reckless driving and was released after posting bond, police said.

A perimeter was set up to locate the other two suspects, who were caught by a police dog while they were hiding in a shed, according to authorities.

Christie K. Lopez, 18, of Chicago, was charged with burglary and is being held in lieu of $7,500 bail.

The third suspect, a juvenile, faces burglary charges pending a probation review, according to police.
