Teen hit by train dies

A 15-year-old was killed Monday after he was struck by a Metra train near Lake Forest, police officials confirmed. Train Number 314 on the Union Pacific North Metra Line struck the pedestrian near Deerpath Road at 6:56 a.m., said Lake Forest Deputy Police Chief Glenn Burmeister. All trains were halted following the accident for about 45 minutes while the scene was investigated, Burmeister said. The teen was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he died because of his injuries.
