Seeing stars — and more — in Fox Valley
The Fox Valley Astronomical Society’s website says its purpose is “Providing ‘out of this world’ celestial experiences to the Fox Valley area since 1944.”
Saturday night at Peck Farm Park in Geneva the group met for its monthly Public Star Party, and used a Celestron telescope aimed at the moon to take a photograph on an iPhone. Also on Saturday, Jupiter and its moons were visible.
The monthly star parties are free. Members host an optional presentation in the Peck Farm Lecture Barn and then set up telescopes outside in the parking lot. The next star party is Feb. 11. The discussion starts at 7 p.m. and public observing at 7:30 p.m.
The group has monthly club meetings the second Monday of each month.
The Society is affiliated with the Night Sky Network and the International Dark Sky Association.
