Real motive for getting troops home?

I’ve attempted to find another U.S. president who, as part of his campaign promises, stated he would bring our troops home at a specific future time while those very troops were actively engaged in a war with our enemies. I guess that was just part of the “change” we got in 2008. Anyway, it’s officially over, and, guess what, there’s another election in November.
