Northern Illinois Jobs with Justice plans rally in Batavia

On Friday, Jan. 6, Northern Illinois Jobs with Justice will hold its monthly rally for jobs at noon in Batavia at the southwest corner of Randall Road and Fabyan Parkway in front of Bank of America.

They will protest government bailouts and protection of the banks.

They also will mark and comment on the monthly release of unemployment numbers by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and call for financial reform in this country: the restoration of Glass-Steagall protections, the breakup of the big banks, a financial transaction tax, the end of the Bush tax cuts, and federal employment legislation like that of the New Deal era. They want the federal government to directly put millions of unemployed people back to work repairing infrastructure, creating a smart electric grid, and a high-speed rail system.

All are welcome. For information, call Mary Shesgreen at (847) 742-6602.
