Merry Christmas, courtesy of you

For those like me, who have had a hard time figuring out what the basis of the Tea Party/Republican philosophy is, we can thank Joe Walsh for defining the party’s heart and mindset.

Walsh was disappointed that the government, via rules of the House, was not willing to subsidize his desire to send Christmas card greetings to his constituents. He felt he should be able to send his campaigning cards at taxpayer expense. He then offered a scheme to pay his expenses through a 15-cent tax on every Christmas tree sold, further blurring the lines between political campaigning and religious practice.

To this end, Joe petitioned his colleagues in the House and they agreed that such Big Government and taxation was worthy of implementation.

Now, all constituents, Christian or not, will receive Joe’s political Christmas message in the form of a Christmas card, which they will pay for.

Joe’s logic, with the support of his colleagues in the House, clearly reveals the basis of the Tea Party/Republican philosophy. Apparently, the philosophy is that the only good Big Government, the only good tax, the only worthy program, is one designed by Tea Party/Republicans.
