Judge finds Ill. man insane in uncle’s death
MARION, Ill. — A southern Illinois man who had been accused of killing his uncle won’t be serving any prison time now that a judge has found him not guilty by reason of insanity.
WSIL-TV reports the judge returned the verdict in 48-year-old Randall Feazel’s first-degree murder trial last week. Feazel will be committed to a mental-health site for an unspecified amount of time.
Authorities accused Feazel in the death of 68-year-old Don Essary at the rural Williamson County mobile home they shared.
A neighbor called police after Feazel allegedly forced his way into the neighbor’s home and threatened to kill everyone inside. The witness says Feazel was naked and covered in blood, and that neighbors forced him outside. Officers found Feazel back in his own home, where they also found Essary’s body.
