United Way CEO steps down

Laura Thrall, president and CEO of United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, stepped down Dec. 31 and the chief operating officer, Wendy DuBoe, will act as interim CEO as the agency searches for a successor. United Way credits Thrall with the successful launch of LIVE UNITED 2020 — a 10-year plan that connects families to the building blocks of economic stability: income, education, health and crisis services, and says she was instrumental in stabilizing United Way fundraising efforts while reducing overhead costs, putting the organization on a stronger financial footing. “Laura has led United Way of Metropolitan Chicago to its present strong position,” said Ellen Costello, CEO of BMO Financial Corp. and United Way of Metropolitan Chicago Board Chairman.
