Train gates stuck in Mundelein
Motorists were unable to drive through three key train crossings in downtown Mundelein Tuesday morning because of malfunctioning safety gates, police said. The Canadian National tracks at Route 176, Park Street and Hawley Street were closed for roughly an hour starting about 8 a.m., police said. Officers rerouted motorists to different streets. Those efforts kept backups from becoming too severe. Canadian National representatives were called to repair the gate system, police said. The streets reopened about 9 a.m.
