Grayslake Central surge beats Johnsburg
Grayslake Central and Johnsburg both started slowly, ending the first quarter tied 4-4. But the Rams pulled ahead and beat the Skyhawks 36-19 Tuesday night in Johnsburg.
Grayslake Central’s record improves to 13-3 and 3-0 in the Fox Valley Fox Division.
Morgan Dahlstrom led the Rams, scoring 13 points. Claire Brennan scored 7, and Beth Arnold and Skyler Jessop added 6 apiece.
The Rams will next host Crystal Lake Central at 7 p.m. Friday.
North Chicago 61, Round Lake 39: Aaliyah Chastang scored 11 points for the Panthers (4-13, 0-5). Kaylee Parlogean and Adrianna Pitts both had 7.
Fremd 60, Prospect 38: Ashley McConnell didn’t miss a beat from last week’s prestigious Dundee-Crown Charger Classic when she averaged 21 points in the four games.
On Tuesday, she weaved her way between defenders for sneaky layups and swished shots from 3-point range to score 21 points against Prospect in a Mid-Suburban League girls basketball crossover triumph.
Not a bad stretch for Fremd’s junior guard who also happens to wear uniform No. 21.
“Prospect played real tough in the first half,” McConnell said. “So we knew we had to come out stronger in the third quarter.”
The Vikes (13-3) led 25-23 at the break and Prospect (10-8) tied it when senior guard Jessica Petrovski swished a 14-footer to start the start the third quarter.
