Geneva Rotarians make it a merry Christmas

For the 34th consecutive year, members of the Geneva Rotary Club hosted a holiday luncheon for 80 Association for Individual Development clients from Aurora, Batavia, and Yorkville. The event is looked forward to every year by the AID clients, staff, and members of the Geneva Rotary Club.

Gordie Hart, a member of the Geneva Rotary Club, has chaired the event for the past 20 years.

When asked about what the event means to the members of the Geneva Rotary Club Hart said, “Other than simply being a humanitarian, this event starts the Christmas season. Everyone enjoys the event and is happy to help kick off the holiday season for the clients.”

The Rotarians coordinate the entire event, helping set up, serve lunch, lead the signing of Christmas carols, and arrange entertainment.

The clients were treated to a comedy juggling show by Ken Schultz, “The Flying Fool.” He dazzled the audience with a variety of juggling, comedy, balloon tricks and improvisation. The crowd was amazed as he balanced a ladder on his chin and swallowed fire. Throughout the show, many clients were asked to help him out onstage; each received a balloon animal for their valued assistance. The crowd truly enjoyed his performance but it was the next guest that stole the show.

Following the conclusion of the comic juggler's performance, the AID clients were paid a surprise visit from Santa.

With help from the Rotarians, Santa was able to deliver a gift from each client in attendance's holiday wish list. For many of the clients this will be the only gift they receive this holiday season.
