Give immigrants a chance at the dream

A Nov. 12 article in The New York Times, “Under New U.S. Policy on Deportation,” is very inconsistent. I believe we will find a common ground on solving this issue. President Obama needs to act fast on this reform to get re-elected.

I use to be a permanent resident or a legal alien, but when I become a U.S. citizen I took it to heart that this is my home now. I feel that people who come here really want to make a difference and want a better life for their families. This issue brings back my memories.

Also, Latino communities are under attack on this situation, but they need compassion and justice and fair share of the American dream, too. If they are a menace to society for any reason, send them back, but if they are trying to make it and are raising a good family, let America become their home.

With all due respect, someone in each of our families was an immigrant at one point or another; why can’t we give other people a chance at the American dream? But the people who are a danger to society should go back to where they came from — I agree with that 100 percent.
