Value of life must not be diminished
We can only imagine the extreme panic, loss of reason and contempt for human life that it takes for someone to kill a newborn child. Yet 19-year-old Jessica Cruz of Hanover Park is accused of giving birth to a healthy baby boy in the bathroom of a thrift store and then murdering the minutes-old baby by strangulation with a plastic bag and dumping the body in the garbage can. We have the choice of either hating and vilifying this young mother or praying for her because her life has been ruined by a horrific act of violence.
All that is humane in the human intellect decries acts of violence of this type. And yet, 3,500 innocent babies are brutally murdered in the womb each day in the U.S. through legalized abortion because our courts have ruled that this type of “murder by choice” is permissible.
A mother has the right to pay someone else to destroy her baby in the womb by surgical and chemical means, most abominable to describe. Ironically, this so-called surgical procedure can be legally performed throughout the full nine months of pregnancy and the bodies, considered trash, either cremated or sold to biotech laboratories for experimentation. For example, a well-known cola company is using aborted fetal cells in the development of artificial flavor enhancers. Skin care product labs use “cell banks” established from the fetal skin which contains cultured skin cells to produce the human growth factor needed to restore aging skin.
Abortion on demand has contributed significantly to an environment in our country where the value of life has become meaningless. The tragedy of Jessica Cruz is that she happens to live in an environment that encourages violence against the most helpless of human beings.
