Driver killed in collision with train from Chicago
TOWN OF IXONIA, Wis. — Authorities said Friday a 44-year-old man was killed when his truck collided with an Amtrak train in Wisconsin's Jefferson County on Thursday.
Sheriff Paul Milbrath said Michael Dragan of Oconomowoc was driving down a private driveway that crosses railroad tracks when he collided with a westbound Amtrak train.
Dragan died at the scene.
Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel no one was hurt aboard the Empire Builder, which was carrying 326 passengers, plus crew members, on its daily trip between Chicago and Seattle.
The crash happened about 4:45 p.m. Thursday in the Town of Ixonia. The train was stopped about four hours while authorities investigated.
