Bond reduced for woman accused in boy’s death

JONESBORO — A southern Illinois woman accused in the death of her boyfriend’s 4-year-old son remains jailed despite having her bond reduced by $350,000.

WSIL-TV reports (http://bit.ly/tWGTpE) that a judge in Union County has lowered bond for 29-year-old Sacha Brown of Jonesboro to $400,000 from $750,000 on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated battery and concealment of a homicidal death.

Authorities say Justin James Hepburn died Dec. 11 in Ware, about 20 miles southwest of Carbondale. The criminal complaint alleges that the boy’s skull had been fractured, and that Brown positioned the child to make his death look like an accident.

Brown’s attorney, James Karraker, could not be reached for comment.
