Vehicle found in hit-run that hurt Milwaukee cop
MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police have recovered a “vehicle of interest” in a hit-and-run that critically injured a uniformed police officer.
A police news release Wednesday says the investigation continues and no additional details were released.
Thirty-seven-year-old Officer Frank Vrtochnick (ver-TAHSH’-nik) was struck Sunday afternoon as he stood outside his squad car by a motorist who drove on the wrong side of the road and jumped a curb. The driver fled after the crash.
Police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz says Vrtochnick remained in critical condition Wednesday morning.
