Swiped Jesus statues left on S. Ind. library steps

FORT BRANCH, Ind. — Seven swiped baby Jesus statues ended up neatly arranged on the steps of a southern Indiana town’s library a couple days after Christmas.

Surveillance video shows two men carrying statues to the Fort Branch library steps late Tuesday night. Library director Sabrina Frederick tells WFIE-TV that they carefully placed the statues on the steps and stepped back to survey their work.

Fort Branch deputy marshal Darrell Parker tells the Princeton Daily Clarion that he found all the homes where the statues were taken from nativity scene in the town about 20 miles north of Evansville.

One of the Jesus figurines was taken from Josh Hurt’s yard. He says he believes the theft was a prank but still wrong.

Parker says he has some suspects who he’ll be questioning.
