Judge to weigh in on Wis. GOP lawsuit against GAB

WAUKESHA, Wis. — A Waukesha County judge is expected to weigh in on a lawsuit that Gov. Scott Walker's campaign and the head of the Wisconsin Republican Party have filed against the state elections board.

The plaintiffs want an injunction against the Government Accountability Board. They want the GAB to be more aggressive about eliminating duplicate and clearly fraudulent signatures from petitions seeking to recall the Republican governor.

A ruling on that request will likely come later, not at Thursday's hearing. Judge Mac Davis has signaled that he'll postpone a ruling on the injunction. However, he is expected to decide whether to allow additional groups to intervene in the lawsuit.

The effort to recall Walker was motivated largely by his proposal that effectively ended collective-bargaining rights for public workers.
