Wisconsin sheriff to drive home NYE revelers
MARSHFIELD, Wis. — Revelers in central Wisconsin will have a very responsible designated driver on call on New Year’s Eve: the county sheriff.
Wood County Sheriff Thomas Reichert says he will take part in the “Safe Ride Home Program” on New Year’s Eve.
He and a representative from the Wood County Tavern League will be picking up people too intoxicated to drive and will take their automobiles home.
In a statement, the sheriff said the effort helps keep the roads safe.
He has participated in the program for several years but was unable to last year due to heart surgery.
