No charges filed in fatal Wis. bridge crash

MILWAUKEE — Authorities say no serious charges will be filed against the driver of a vehicle that struck a disabled vehicle on an Interstate 794 bridge in October, causing the death of a man.

The Milwaukee County sheriff’s office announced Tuesday that the man with the disabled vehicle was outside his car in a lane of traffic when it was struck from behind by another car.

He was either knocked off the bridge or jumped.

Blood tests on the driver of the car that struck the disabled vehicle found no sign of drugs or alcohol. State crash reconstruction experts found the vehicle was traveling at, or just below, the speed limit.

The evidence was presented to prosecutors, but they declined to file charges. A citation for inattentive driving will be issued, however.
