Indiana University’s top lawyer stepping down

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana University’s top lawyer is stepping down after 17 years in that position.

The university says a national search will be conducted to find a replacement for Dorothy Frapwell, who is the school’s vice president and general counsel. Frapwell will become a special adviser to her replacement.

IU spokesman Mark Land tells The Herald-Times (http://bit.ly/tvj7Au ) that Frapwell decided to resign and that school officials are grateful she’s helping ensure a smooth transition.

Frapwell joined IU’s legal staff in 1975 and became its top lawyer in 1994. She was promoted to vice president and general counsel in 2006.

Land says a search committee hopes to have a replacement able to take over by July.
