Suburbia's Got Talent: Grayslake winter musical

Grayslake Middle School presented "Guys and Dolls" as this year's winter musical production.

A cast of thirty-one 7th and 8th grade students, a live pit-band of 30 students and a stage crew of 18 staged the musical, theater and dance production Dec. 8 to 10.

It was directed by Karen Novack, Assistant Director Joyce VanLaeke, Music Director Steven Thomas, and Stage Crew Director Becky Chappell.

The students worked daily from 3:20 to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. to memorize lines, 16 vocal music selections and small and large choreographed dance numbers. Others practiced intricate instrumental music and created set and costumes designs.

Students even performed a special showing to Grayslake Elementary District 46 school board members during a board meeting.
