Bright Hope in Hoffman Estates reported on its work this year to help those living in extreme poverty. More than 153,000 people have experienced a helping hand in a time of need. The religious, not-for-profit charity helped 6,000 Kenyans suffering extreme drought with 9,600 bags of cornmeal and 2,640 tubs of cooking oil. The agency helped 965 churches, made 3,409 microloans to small businesses, distributed 923,590 meals, and granted 1,651 school scholarships. More information is at brighthope.org.
