ComEd working in Wadsworth
ComEd is completing a cable replacement project aimed at enhancing service reliability for customers in and around Wadsworth by reducing the frequency and duration of outages, the company said.
The utility is replacing 3,200 feet of underground cable in an infrastructure upgrade that will be completed by January.
ComEd will begin additional work in January as part of its implementation of the Energy Infrastructure Modernization Act recently enacted by the General Assembly. Under the program, the company will invest $1.3 billion in the existing power grid serving northern Illinois by replacing thousands of miles of cable and poles, and upgrading substations and equipment. The company will spend another $1.3 billion to digitize the electric system, including distribution automation devices that will automatically reroute power around a problem; install a smart meter in every home and utilize other Smart Grid technologies.
