Church celebrates season with Christmas Pageant

Dressed in an ornate robe and crown, one of the wise men, played by David Kumura, rode an 8-foot-tall camel into the auditorium to a mesmerized audience. After dismounting from the camel, he knelt in front of the live nativity scene with Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus, played by Lauren and Adam Reyes and their son, Lincoln.

Quentin Road Baptist Church in Lake Zurich presented its annual Christmas Pageant “Bethlehem’s Cry Heard Around The World” with seven performances over two weekends to the entertainment of thousands of people.

Linda Scudder wrote and directed the elaborate production that combined powerful music with dramatic presentations of Jesus’ birth, life, death, and resurrection.

The cast and crew consisted of 400 members of the church, including choral groups from the children’s school programs and the Victory In Grace Choir.

“I love it. This is how we celebrate Christmas. It is just fun for my kids and my family,” said church secretary Kristin Tanney. “We get a lot of people that come back from year to year. They just love it and can’t say enough about it.”
