Education foundation bringing circus to town

Elk Grove Township District 59 Education Foundation is bringing the Kelly Miller Circus to town next month.

On Sept. 14 and 15, at 999 Leicester Road in Elk Grove Village, the circus will roll in with elephants, clowns, trapeze artists, jugglers and music.

Camel, elephant and pony rides will be available before and after each show.

The Kelly Miller Circus has been entertaining people across the country for 39 years, and the District 59 Education Foundation is bringing it back this year.

Friday's performances are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Saturday's performances are scheduled for 2 and 5:30 p.m.

General seating tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the day of show. Box seats are $15.

All circus tickets are expected to sell out, so interested parties should buy their tickets early. Tickets are on sale now at Jarosch Bakery, 35 Arlington Heights Road in Elk Grove Village.

For more information, call (847) 593-4090.

Help pets: Elk Grove Village-based Second Chance Pet Adoption has available 2008 Entertainment Coupon Books for $20 each, which is a fundraiser for the animal welfare group.

Books can be purchased at most adoption shows or at the Arlington Cat Clinic, 841 N. Wilke Road in Arlington Heights.

The show schedule can be found at www.secondchancepetadoption.org or call the voice mail at (630) 415-2978.

Retire old computers: Elk Grove Village-based Kenneth Young Center will benefit from a computer drop off program next month.

You may drop off your recently retired computers between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Weber Atrium Center, 59 W. Seegers Road in Arlington Heights.

Collected computers will be refurbished and made available to those in need.

Older computers will be recycled and not dumped into a land fill.

You may also drop off used printer ink cartridges. They will be donated to the center and the units will be sold back to the company to raise money.

Also, volunteers are needed that day between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., either directing traffic, since about 1,000 cars will be coming through, or hefting the computers off the skids and into the waiting trailer trucks.

For more information, call the center at (847) 524 -8800
