Barrington man cut from car after crash in Palatine
A 23-year-old Barrington man was taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries after a two-car crash Monday night in Palatine, authorities said.
Trevor Whately was driving from Northwest Highway onto eastbound Dundee Avenue around 6:30 p.m., when his 2005 Hyundai Tiburon collided with a Buick Enclave, according to Palatine Fire Department Capt. Jim Conn.
Whatley had to be cut from his car, Conn said, which took about 10 minutes.
“Just the way the cars were, the roof was taken out instead of twisting and turning him,” Conn said.
Palatine Police Cmdr. Mike Seebacher said the air bags deployed in the Buick Enclave driven by John Lavin, 67, of Brookfield Wis., but Lanvin reported no injuries that required treatment.
Police had yet to get a statement from Whately, and no citations had been issued as of Monday night, he said.
