More counterfeit bills used to buy Packers tickets
GREEN BAY, Wis. — Police say an increasing number of counterfeit bills are being used to buy Green Bay Packers tickets on game day at Lambeau Field.
Ashwaubenon Public Safety Lt. Jody Crocker says you’re taking a chance when you sell a ticket to a complete stranger in a crowd of 70,000, because that person can disappear in a second and you’re left with fake money.
Crocker says area businesses and fans at Lambeau Field have reported receiving counterfeit bills this football season. The Green Bay Press-Gazette says police believe the suspected counterfeiters change clothes after buying the tickets, then sell them to fans for real money.
Local ordinances require a permit for those selling Packers tickets on game days near Lambeau Field. Violators face a fine of up to $1,000.
