Hit-and-run brings Christmas to bedside
A hit-and-run is bringing one family together in Chicago this holiday in anguish but also in hope of recovery.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that relatives of Meghann Eff moved their Christmas to her hospital bedside after the 28-year-old was hit by a car Sunday morning. Eff was trying to hail a cab on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago.
Her father, Lester Eff, says his daughter was left unconscious — one arm crushed, both legs broken and her skull fractured.
The Chicago woman works as a law-firm events planner.
Lester Eff says the 200-mile drive to Chicago after he received word of the accident felt like a 1,000 miles. And he says it’ll make their Christmas “to have Meghann wide awake and alert.”
