Villa Park cops hunt 3 armed robbers

Villa Park police are hunting for three men who robbed a store at gunpoint and escaped with roughly $2,000 in cash and 160 cartons of Newport cigarettes, authorities said Friday.

Police said the men entered the Tobacco Hut at 543 E. St. Charles Road shortly before 8:40 p.m. Wednesday and displayed a handgun.

The clerk told officers the men forced him into a closet while they took the cash and cigarettes and fled running south.

The suspects were described as black men wearing all black clothing, gloves and masks.

Police said the investigation is continuing.
