Naperville school janitor charged with battery against teacher

A custodian at Naperville’s Beebe Elementary School faces charges of aggravated battery and public indecency after authorities said he exposed himself and made contact with a female staff member.

Police said Kenneth R. Brown, 54, of Naperville, fled on foot. He later was apprehended on the south side of the downtown Naperville train station where he was taken into custody without incident. He was taken to the DuPage County jail.

Police said they were called about 3:18 p.m. Thursday to the school on the 100 block of East 11th Avenue.

Classes already had ended and there were no students present at the time of the incident, Sgt. Gregg Bell said. No one involved required medical attention.

In a letter sent to Beebe parents, Superintendent Mark Mitrovich said Brown has been suspended without pay and has been barred from walking on school grounds or entering any district school.
