Parolee pleads not guilty in girl’s stabbing death

A parolee accused of fatally stabbing an Indian Head Park girl has pleaded not guilty. John Wilson Jr. of Chicago entered the plea Wednesday in Cook County court in Bridgeview.

Prosecutors say 14-year-old Kelli O’Laughlin was stabbed in the back, neck and chest after coming home from school to find Wilson burglarizing her home. Prosecutors say Wilson kept the teen’s cell phone after the attack and used it to send “taunting and disturbing” messages to her family.

The 38-year-old Wilson was paroled last November after serving 7½ years of an 11-year sentence for robbery. On Wednesday, Judge Joan Margaret O’Brien rejected a defense request to have Wilson moved to the Cook County jail from the state prison in Pontiac.
