Sun City model train club presents holiday display
Submitted by Kishwaukee Valley-Eakin Creek Model Railroad Club
The Kishwaukee Valley-Eakin Creek Model Railroad Club of Sun City has this year’s Holiday Display on exhibit.
Trains will be running in the Prairie Lodge Social Lounge through Thursday, Dec. 29. The weekday running times will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Weekend running times will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Note, Prairie Lodge will be closed Christmas Day, Sunday, Dec. 25, and will have shortened hours on Saturday, Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. Check the website for operating hours on that date.
As in years past, the club will be sponsoring a raffle for three trains. This year’s raffle will be a Ski Train from the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad (O gauge) with the drawing held at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23. Winners need not be present.
Join with members as they go back in time and operate scale models of the beautiful trains of the 1920s to ’50s and relive memories of classic rail travel. Watch these classic trains run in various scales, and remember when it all happened in those glory days of rail travel.
The Railroad Club is proud to sponsor this holiday tradition and they invite all Sun City residents, their family and friends, as well as residents of neighboring communities, to this annual tradition. For information, call the message center at (847) 669-2392 or visit SCCAH.com.
