Could the events of 1929 revisit us?

Now that another season of economic ups and downs is over, one wonders if the world is moving toward another economic and political disaster like the one in 1929. Not only are there ominous economic happenings but there are also potential terrible political times taking place especially in the Muslim and Israeli world where Palestinian and Hebrew sentiments are strong. It is a part of the world where emotions and loyalties are long-standing and deep.

President Obama and the United Nations are doing their best to solve the differences between the two peoples, but positions are strong and seem to be irreconcilable.

The greatest danger of all is the possible collapse of the world economy along with the threat that a WWIII could result from our summer of economic discontent into an autumn and winter period of hate throughout the Middle East that we would be drawn into foolishly.

As a World War II veteran and one who remembers vividly what happened during October in 1929, I fear that unless the world economy becomes more stable, two of the world’s worst eventualities, economic collapse and more revolutionary disorder within nations as is currently taking place, are inevitable.
