Indiana seeks Supreme Court applicants
INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Chief Justice Randall Shepard is encouraging Indiana lawyers and judges of all backgrounds, from all corners of the state, to consider applying for the vacancy that will be created on the Indiana Supreme Court when he retires next March.
The Indiana Courts office says applications are due Jan. 27. Qualified candidates must be Indiana residents and members of the Indiana bar for 10 years or an Indiana judge for five years.
Interested applicants may contact Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission counsel Adrienne Meiring at 317-232-4706. The application is online at http://www.courts.in.gov/jud-qual/. The annual pay is $156,000.
The seven-member Nominating Commission will conduct public interviews of qualified candidates in Indianapolis on Feb. 8-10 and second interviews two weeks later. Gov. Mitch Daniels will select the justice from among three nominees.
