Arcada Theatre to screen classic holiday movies

The historic Arcada Theatre, 105 E. Main St. in downtown St. Charles, is continuing its annual holiday tradition of screening classic Christmas films the week before Christmas.

Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for children. U.S. military veterans are admitted free.

The Mission-Spanish Revival-style theater was built in 1926. It is handicap accessible, and offers full concessions including a premium bar with champagne and mixed drinks.

The holiday film schedule will be: “Home Alone,” the 1990 comedy, at 3 p.m. and “Elf,” the 2003 comedy, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20; “Disney’s A Christmas Carol,” the 2009 film starring Jim Carrey, at 3 p.m. and “It’s a Wonderful Life,” the 1946 classic with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21; the 2004 film “The Polar Express” at 3 p.m. and “A Christmas Story,” the 1983 film starring Peter Billingsley and Darren McGavin, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22; and “Miracle on 34th Street,” the 1947 film starring Natalie Wood, Maureen O’Hara, and Edmund Gwenn at 3 p.m. and “It’s a Wonderful Life” with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23.
