Government’s hand too heavy in business

The Dec. 7 column by Richard Cohen demonstrated once again his narrow views. He stated that two American auto companies survived because of our money given as bailouts. The fact is, we the American people haven’t been repaid fully. GM even gave bonuses to their people. By the way, Ford auto company didn’t receive any bailout money, and they have done fine. Our money went also for incentives for car sales and appliances. To my knowledge this didn’t stimulate the economy. The American people took a loss of over a half of a billion dollars because our government backed Solyndra, which filed for bankruptcy. Other companies have filed bankruptcy — our money.

Our government is now managing businesses, banks, school loans, health care, etc. More jobs have been added to the Obama administration — that is growth (our money). Also, labor unions are the foot soldiers for our president.

Mr. Cohen may be inhaling foul air as he exhales adjectives like ignoramuses, dimwits, contrarians, Christian jihadists and political pygmies. He should look up the word fabricators and look to the White House. Name calling was a grade school activity. It has now been adopted by the Democratic Party.

Since more people may be working during the holiday season this could contribute to the drop in unemployment.

Lastly, I question how many Israelis have changed their feelings toward our president.

The only hope that the American people have is that President Obama’s luck changes before Nov. 6, 2012.
